Article IV - If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If leid, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way. Article V - When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause. Article VI - I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America. About SERE Training The instruction begins with a week of classroom work focusing on wilderness survival and the real world applications of the code of conduct for a service member. This includes an extensive look into ways of surviving off the land, navigating by compass, and finding a safe location to hide and live. Survival - Survival training starts in the classroom for the first week. Then it is tested out in the field, living off the land, building fires, catching and gathering food, finding water, all while evading the enemy. Evasion - The students will tasked with a situation to travel from one safe house to another. Throughout that day and ni ght, instructors with thick Arabic accents (formerly Russian accents) search the areas in between the houses patrolling the easy routes between areas. Resistance - At some point, you will get caught or have to turn yourself into the instructors to start the resistance phase. Here, you are a captured prisoner of war.Treated like a prisoner, in a cell, and getting beat and interrogated like a prisoner. While captured, your goal is not to give up any information during interrogations and not be used as propaganda by the enemy. Escape - When possible, make all efforts to escape your prison cell and the camp. It is difficult to do and you will get caught and beat again, but the planning of the escape will give your mind something to do while the enemy plays horrible music, children crying, and repetitive, mind-numbing recordings on loud speaking making it difficult to sleep for very long periods. The students never forget the simulations and lessons that are taught and the confidence gai ned may save a life in certain situations. The students will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and personal confidence necessary for worldwide survival and evasion, although no two students are the same and sometimes individuals find themselves out of their element. One thing the students learn is that they are tougher than they once thought and that its only human nature to do all that is necessary to stay alive. The training that takes place in the remote areas of SERE training opens the window into how to survive when things go from bad to worse. The instructors at SERE have combined years of knowledge and experience directly from surviving POWs making this course an invaluable tool for all those that could possibly be in danger of capture by enemy forces. In the end, a result of the course is a stronger and more devoted American military member with knowledge that will save their life in just about any situation behind enemy lines that a lone American can experi ence.

And before you know it, your venting confessions going around the office like a game of telephone. By the time it gets back to that alleged tyrant, its escalated into something far worse than what you said.Instead SayI really want to work together/for you, but when you yell at me/dont respond to me/criticize me in front of the team, it makes me feel demoralized and unvalued. Be it laptops, smartphones, or tablets, many employees are now able to collaborate from the comfort of their own devices.Ive seen this trend make meetings more effective and perhaps even enjoyable. Heres how the BYOD landscape will continue to change the way meetings are viewed and conducted over the next decade, and how it could affect your companys meeting culture.Getting real-time information will eliminate unnecessary meetingsBecause updates and information pertaining to meetings can now be updated in real time, unnecessary meetings will become a thing of the past. If your teams to-do list for the day has already been laid out on a task or project management software like Asana or Trello, you can easily send that information to the rest of your tea m on your mobile device and avoid a meeting altogether.Additionally, BYODs value isnt limited to meeting reduction You can even use your own device to eliminate any information that may no longer be relevant to an upcoming meeting. For example, if there was a meeting to discuss your companys overall absatzwirtschaft spend and the marketing manager sent out a Slack message explaining the budget, youd no longer need to discuss those expenditures in a meeting. The marketing manager can update the meeting agenda on his or her device and send the refined agenda out to the team.Virtual meetings will growIt should come as no surprise that virtual meetings have been on the rise, especially as companies make flexibility a priority and physical locations have become less critical.The sheer number of avenues to conduct a virtual meeting have grown exponentially since 2000, not just via Skype Google Hangouts, GoToMeeting, UberConference, JoinMe, WebEx, FaceTime and, most recently, Slacks call f eature are all viable options. Coupled with the fact that more people will be doing more remote work in upcoming years, you can easily see how virtual meetings will continue to be an important factor in the workforce.We may also need to reconsider how meeting notes are taken and action items are delegated. Even if everyone isnt physically present, the information can live in cloud-based applications and be accessed anywhere,anytime.Meetings will becomeshorterWith this influx of devices and variety of ways to instantly communicate from anywhere, meetings will inherently become shorter. There will be no need for meetings to last hours because most topics will be discussed with a short message in Slack, commented on in Quip or Google Docs, or assigned as a project or task in Asana or Trello - as mentioned above, collaboration and productivity platforms will eliminate unnecessary information.Therefore, meetings should ideally become much more concise (even those covering important info rmation) because only information that is absolutely necessary to discuss will be addressed.Meetings will become more transparentGiven the shift towards teams working on cloud-based, collaborative platforms, meetings will become more open due to BYODs inclusive environment. Think of all of the information currently being collected, shared and documented on all employees own devices over a plethora of software applications. Now, apply all that collected information to todays collaborative workforce, including meetings. For example, meeting notes and information will be shared not only with members who attended a meeting, but also with other relevant team members who are integral to the project.As a result, the ability for any team member to be able to open up their own device and go back and review notes from a past meeting will become much more prevalent, rather than having to use a work computer and/or retrieve the information from, say, upper management.
